Lee Sims & The Platte River Band
Back Trackin'
One day as several times before
there was a CD in my mailbox with an artist I
didn't know anything about but, I
had to take a listen as I used to do when a
CD arrived and after a short listen
I found that it wasn't a CD just to put
away, I took a more careful listen
and became surprised, the sound and
feelings in this voice was great and
it belongs to Lee Sims, the arrangement
and sound of the music is a pleasure
to your ears and if you see this CD
anywhere there is a good reason to
buy it, I'm sure you will love the songs
as much as I do

Lee Sims &The Platte River Band........ CD Review
From the first note on
track 1, Lee Sims& The Platte River Band take control.BACK TRACKIN' is a
well produced Cd and along with Lee's powerful vocals is a joy to listen
to.Lee takes classic's like FOLSOM PRISON BLUES,MAMA TRIED and STATUE
OF A FOOL and make them his.Lee puts so much emotion in every song, and
thats so apparent on the ballards,I TAKE IT ON HOME,LILLIES WHITE
LIES,HOW BOUT YOU and especially, my personal favorite OTHER WOMAN IN MY
LIFE.When Lee sings LADY IN THE BLUE MERCEDES you feel like your
traveling too.Lee and the band can rock it up also, with the seventies
classic BRANDY and they blow the roof off with a Carl Perkins gem HONEY
DON'T.Lee Sims & The Platte River Band are a great bunch of musicians
and with solid background vocals this CD is a "WINNER." If you love
country music ,this CD belong's in your collection.

Lee Sims &The Platte River Band not
to Far out of Denver is the town of
Aurora not a big town but certainly
a town containing a big talent. Lee and
the boy's have honed their musical
skill to razor sharpness and their release
Back Trackin' is proof of this.
Loaded to the hilt with classic country Lee
and the band take you on a musical
trip covering the true heart of country
music. Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison
Blues kicks off our trip and rather than
it coming across as a cover becomes
more of an anthem to the writer, amongst
the great material Is Haggard's Mama
Tried an all time favourite of mine and
I'm certain of a lot of peoples.
Carl Perkins Honey Don't brings out some
great rockabilly skills in the band
and they cut loose on this one, other
great standards like Statue of a
Fool and Jesse Winchester's How About You
are given Lee and the boy's own
special touch. Twelve tracks in all and the
only disappointing thing I could
find about this release was when it ran out
of time. Might be a tad hard to find
but like all good things it's worth the
trouble.
ALBUM REVIEW by PAT
FITZMAURICE (RADIO GALTEE. IRELAND)
LEE SIMS & THE PLATTE RIVER
BAND (BACK TRACKIN)
Country Music has many forms and styles; this album has combined styles
and forms to produce something for anyone who has an interest in
country music.
From the very first song, a
cover of a well-known song made famous by Johnny Cash, given a fresh
sound with the addition of a well-played harmonica, takes the song
to another level.
Mama Tried and Statue of a
Fool given that fresh sound which will hold you’re attention right
through. Lady in a blue Mercedes is one of my favorites and also of
the listeners to my radio show, but the song that has topped my list
and on requests is “Lillies White Lies” .
I only have this Album a week
and I am still trying to get to the rest of the songs.
A must for your collection.
Pat

Hello Lee,
Thank you so very much, your CD titled "BACK
TRACKIN'"
arrived in the mail today. Eddie Russell is a real
gem, he told me he
would be getting a few artists to send them music
to me for review and
possible airplay.
My show is called MAKE MINE COUNTRY on 88.9 WYN-FM
(that's pronounced
"win" and not W Y N as three separate letters). The
show is a mixed
bag of some old, some new, some Australian, some
major label
commercially recorded and a whole lot of Indie
country music.
I only have two hours per week which is not nearly
enough to play all
the great music that needs playing, but I do the
best I can and you
can be sure that your CD will be receiving a few
spins.
My favourites on the album are: STATUE OF A FOOL
(you are almost a
match for Ricky Van Shelton), I absolutely love
LADY IN THE BLUE
MERCEDES and LILLIES WHITE LIES is really good too.
I'm not usually
into covers when it comes to Indies but you have
such a great voice
that all I hear is your version.
Speaking of voices, it doesn't sound like you do
the lead vocals on
all the tracks cause a couple of the songs sound
like they are sung by
another of your band members and I couldn't see
anywhere on the CD
inserts stating who sings which song. Do you think
you could let me
know who sings the songs that you don't sing as
lead.
That's about it for now and thanks once again. I
really love the
album.
Bye for now and kind "country" regards from Aussie
land.
